I didn’t start the year out planning to write this story. But when I got the opportunity to contribute a short story to an anthology of sweet romance, this is the tale that tugged at my heart.
Chance In A Million is part of the limited edition Love Under Lockdown anthology published July 1st. Each of these stories features a couple unexpectedly stuck together (car breakdown, locked in the basement, closed in a factory, snowed in a cabin, etc). What starts out as an unwelcome inconvenience ends up being the catalyst for love.
Rick shook the dust of his home town off his feet when he moved out at eighteen. Now a self-made multi-millionaire, he’s proved that his malicious stepfather was wrong about him. He isn’t interested in going back to the town that holds so many painful memories. Until a family crisis draws him back home.
Amanda had a wretched home life growing up. The kind lady next door was her lifeline, and is now her closest friend. Amanda can’t understand why her friend’s son Rick has turned his back on his family. So when her friend has a health emergency, Amanda thinks it’s time to hit Rick with some truth bombs.
Then a sticky basement door and some unexpected chemistry change everybody’s plans…
